About Seville

Seville

Seville is nearly 2,300 years old, with one of the richest historical timelines in the world, influenced by so many passing civilizations, and unique moments instrumental in its growth, leaving the city with such a distinct and magical personality.

But why Seville you might wonder. Let’s just imagine Seville’s history as a grand wedding celebration. The city’s love story begins with its union with the ancient Tartessians, who first settled there. Then came the Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans, each bringing their own gifts, like roads and aqueducts, to adorn the city. The Moors added a stunning Islamic touch to Seville’s architecture, making it a jewel in Al-Andalus. In 1248, Seville tied the knot with the Christian kings, blending Gothic and Renaissance styles, and the marriage flourished during Spain’s Golden Age. Today, Seville’s rich past makes it a truly enchanting place, full of stories to share.

Seville has endured for hundreds of years, and has maintained, and added, to it's beauty and charm. A timeless gem — perfect for a lifetime of adventures together! 💍

So now you know the reason why we chose Seville as the perfect place to celebrate our wedding with you.

So cheesie… But what can one say about Seville without doing it a disservice? Just say: “Sevilla tiene Duende” which is to say, Seville has an enchanting magic, a unique special charm like no other.

Do you want to meet Seville’s duende? Here are some ideas where to find it:

A Mythical Origin: According to legend, Hercules founded Seville. This myth is immortalized in Seville's coat of arms, where Hercules is depicted between two pillars, symbolizing Hercules as Seville’s legendary "father," laying the foundation for what would become a vibrant and historic city.
Orange Overload: Seville's streets are lined with over 14,000 fragrant orange trees, symbolizing love and happiness, making it the world's orange capital! We recommend replacing the word orange with Gingers for this occasion 😉
Game of Thrones: The stunning Alcázar of Seville was used as the set for the Kingdom of Dorne in the popular series. Don’t you love a bit of Spanish drama? Don’t miss visiting it on the second day.
Tapas Kingdom: Seville claims to be the birthplace of tapas, the beloved Spanish snack tradition. We will have plenty of opportunities to try many of the most typical ones during the weekend.
World’s Largest Gothic Cathedral: Seville’s Cathedral is the biggest Gothic cathedral on Earth and houses Christopher Columbus's tomb! Don’t miss a visit, and ask the tour guide to show you how they built its columns.
Home of Flamenco: Seville is considered the heart of flamenco, a passionate dance and music style that originated in Andalusia. A dance that expresses words and feelings with its moves: let's add some fiery footwork to our wedding and start practicing for the first dance!
Romantic Plaza: Seville’s Plaza de España has hosted countless love stories and even appeared in romantic movies like Star Wars! Even our very own romantic night will be very near to this plaza.

Seville is truly a city of surprises. Expect our wedding to be no less!
